The Emmet County Democratic Committee has been very busy this summer!

Besides hosting a very sucessful Fundraiser on May 11 for Jocelyn Benson, candidate for Secretary of State, the Dems held thier annual picnic in Petoskey on June 15. Great food and friendship was the highlight of the day!

Thanks to Peter Gillard who chaired the Lupus Walk on June 12 and Sharyn Hansen for chairing the CROP Hunger Walk in Bay View on June 26. Democrats, indeed, walked the talk!

Several of us walked in the Petoskey 4th of July Parade with Gary McDowell's US House of Representative campaign. It was a very hot day, but the enthusiasm was terrific!  Ryan Nelson and Dick Timmer campaigns for State Representative also participated in the Petoskey Parade as well as other area 4th of July parades.

Our second Adopt-a-Highway for the season was held on July 10 in Oden along US 31. Nancy and Beth Stewart and Anita Kornfield organized all 23 of our participants in a record breaking clean-up project. The weather was cooperative and exercise was had by all.

The Emmet County Dems have 32 candidates for Precinct Delegates in the Aug. 3 Primary. Good Luck to all who are running in this Democratic Grassroots election!

Emmet County Democratic Committee will be sharing a booth at the Emmet/Charlevoix County Fair on Aug. 24-29  with the Charlevoix Dems. Stop by the booth and pick up election lawn signs, bumper stickers, issue and candidate information and meet the candidates visiting during the week. Fair time is always fun time!

Don't forget our Annual Fish Boil Fundraiser for the Emmet County Democratic Committee on Friday, Sept. 3. This event helps us raise money for our many events and candidates throughout the year. Call 231-439-0263 for more information. Great food, friends and sunset is always on the agenda!

Several of us will walk the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day, Monday, Sept 6.  We will be wearing our Democratic t-shirts.  Please join us!
